Some things change and some stay the same....
League Setup
We will continue with the same format we established in the summer league and play an 8v8 system with 4 competitive leagues. The leagues will be:
· Open: For the most competitive play. No requirements for female participants. However, those females who do participate will regain the competitive advantage of goals for females counting as 2.
· A Coed: For the most competitive play within the coed system.
· B Coed: For teams wanting a mix of competitive play and a slightly more laid back atmosphere.
· C Coed: For teams with beginning/inexperienced players or players who are getting up there in age and would like to slow down a little.
There will again be restrictions for Coed teams regarding highly skilled players.
· A Coed teams do not have a limit on highly skilled players. This league is intended for skilled/competitive play.
· B Coed teams cannot have more than 3 male players who would be considered a ‘strong open league players’.
· C Coed teams cannot have more than 1 male player who would be considered a ‘strong open league player’.
· The definition of ‘strong open league player’ is one who would be in the top 50% of players within the Open League. This is a judgment call that is ultimately up to the league director.
Registration
Registration begins 10/24/11 at midnight and goes through midnight on 11/20/11. You can still sign up between 11/20/11 and midnight 11/28/11, but it will cost an additional $25 late fee. Registration cost has gone up to $80 but each person who registers will get a game jersey without an additional cost. Those who wish to play on multiple teams that are in different leagues may still do so at an additional cost of $25. Each player can play on up to 3 teams.
Directions for registration:
· If you want to play in the Open league – select the Open League during the registration process. Then if you wish to play on a 2nd coed team select ‘Adult League 2nd Team’ and if you wish to play on a third coed team select ‘Adult League 3rd Team’.
· If you do not want to play in the Open league – select the Coed League during the registration process and then do the same as above if you wish to play for more than 1 team.
· If you know the team names that you would like to play for, type the team name in the Special Request box beside your registration choices.
Adult League Rule Changes/Updates
· Please check out the Adult League Rules in the Adult Program section of the cgsaclub.com webpage to see updated rules for soccer play and discipline.
· One rule that will be adhered to more rigorously this season is that teams should have matching jerseys that are uniquely numbered. So if you are on one of those teams that use jerseys that are not provided by CGSA, be sure that everyone matches and has unique numbers. If a player jersey does not match his teammates, it will ultimately be up to the referee to determine if the player is able to play but I would not want to take that chance.
Game Days/Times
· There is still a lot to be determined with game dates/times but I can tell everyone that we will play on weekends and at least one day during the week. Most of the time teams will have 1 game per week. However, teams will have to play 2 games in a week approximately once per month.
Spread the word about registration being open and let’s continue to build this league. We had approximately 300 players in the summer and I would like to continue to grow. Looking forward to another great season.
